The mission of Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom (MAC) is to promote agricultural literacy among educators and to provide them with the skills and support to integrate agriculture into their classroom

ABOUT US

Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom (MAC) is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization. We have been working since 1983 to provide agricultural education and training for educators.

We are networked with the national Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) initiative. AITC is a grassroots program coordinated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), aiming to help students gain a greater awareness of the role of agriculture. Programs exist in all 50 US states.

Our agricultural education programs have reached more than 13,000 teachers and other educators since 1983. We bring agriculture to life for educators by making the connection between the foods, fibers and other agricultural products they use every day.

We are an approved Professional Development Provider from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

WHAT WE DO

MAC has developed a strong network of partners and educators in the effort to promoting agricultural awareness and education.

We connect Massachusetts educators with their agricultural roots through agriculture specific curriculum, which is aligned with Massachusetts curriculum frameworks.

Our programs and services include workshopsmini-grants and free

lesson plans.

We also produce the annual Massachusetts Agriculture Calendar in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources. Read more about our Programs here.

OUR TEAM

The MAC vision and mission is guided and managed by an all volunteer Board of Directors.

Our greatest asset and most enthusiastic support comes from the farmers whom we serve by providing awareness about the importance of agriculture and the many teachers whom we reach through our programs.
